Rockstar hasn't published a weapon list for GTA 6, but the trailers show enough to start building one. This page separates what's been confirmed on screen from what we reasonably expect based on GTA 5's arsenal and the game's Florida setting.
What the trailers confirm
Both official trailers show characters handling weapons in several scenes. A pistol is visible holstered on a character's hip in Trailer 1, and Trailer 2 shows action sequences involving what appear to be handguns and long rifles. No weapon names have been given on screen — everything below that isn't a generic "pistol" or "rifle" is an educated expectation, not a confirmed fact.
Confirmed weapon types spotted: handguns, long rifles (possibly assault rifles), and what appears to be a shotgun in a vehicle chase scene. That's the honest floor of what we know.
Expected handguns
GTA 5 shipped with six pistols ranging from the basic Pistol .50 to the SNS Pistol and the Heavy Pistol. GTA 6's Florida setting — and the Bonnie-and-Clyde crime tone — suggests a similar spread. Expect a compact carry pistol for early story missions, at least one high-capacity semi-auto for mid-game, and a heavy revolver for punch. Silenced variants have been standard since GTA 4 and will almost certainly return.
Expected rifles and SMGs
Assault rifles are the backbone of GTA combat. GTA 5 had the Carbine Rifle, Advanced Rifle, Special Carbine and Bullpup Rifle — GTA 6 will likely match or exceed that count. Sub-machine guns (SMGs) fill the gap between pistols and rifles: compact, fast, and useful in vehicles. The trailer chase scenes suggest vehicle-based combat is a big part of GTA 6, which typically means SMGs and shotguns get more screen time.
Marksman rifles and sniper rifles are also a near-certainty — open Leonida terrain and aerial views in the trailers suggest plenty of long-range opportunities.
Expected shotguns
Shotguns have featured in every GTA since III. GTA 5 had the Pump Shotgun, Sawed-Off Shotgun, Assault Shotgun and Heavy Shotgun. A pump shotgun is almost guaranteed for GTA 6 — it's the classic entry-level long gun for GTA's opening missions.
Explosives and heavy weapons
GTA 5 included grenades, sticky bombs, RPGs, miniguns and homing launchers. The scale of GTA 6's world and its current-gen hardware budget suggests an even richer heavy weapons tier. Florida's military bases (a nod to the real Homestead Air Reserve Base) could be the route to acquiring them — similar to Fort Zancudo in GTA 5.
Melee weapons
Fists, knives and blunt objects have always been in GTA. GTA 5 added the Crowbar, Nightstick, Hammer and Baseball Bat. Expect a similar spread in GTA 6 — the crime-drama tone of the trailers suggests melee encounters will feel more grounded than in previous entries.
Weapon customisation
GTA 5 introduced weapon customisation at Ammu-Nation: suppressors, extended magazines, scopes, grips and liveries. GTA 6 will almost certainly keep this system — it was one of GTA 5's most popular additions and feeds directly into the game's economy. The question is depth: a rumoured crafting or modification system would go further than GTA 5's workshop approach, but nothing is confirmed.
Will weapons carry between Jason and Lucia?
GTA 5 gave each of its three protagonists a personal weapon wheel that didn't fully share. GTA 6's dual-protagonist system — just two leads rather than three — may handle this differently. One possibility: a shared stash or vehicle inventory that both Jason and Lucia can access, making co-ordinated loadouts part of the heist preparation. This is speculation; Rockstar has said nothing official about weapon inventory mechanics.
Quick answers
Are any specific weapons confirmed by name? No. The trailers show weapon types but no names or stats.
Will there be an Ammu-Nation in GTA 6? Almost certainly — it's been in every 3D-era GTA. The name and branding may change to fit Leonida's aesthetic.
Will GTA 6 have more weapons than GTA 5? Likely yes, given the generation leap and longer development cycle — but no count has been given.
